Computing plays a bigger role in the lives of young people today than ever before. Yet, there is a widespread lack of knowledge of what constitutes the core of computing: is it just the use of word processors and spreadsheets or are there more fundamental principles that underlie this science. Can we show young people how a computational model can be used to solve a variety of problems, from basic problems in mathematics to answering questions in biology?
CSpathshala (www.cspathshala.org) is an Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) India (www.acm.org) initiative to bring a modern computing curriculum to Indian schools. Industry and top academic institutions are putting their heads together to achieve the desired goal. CSpathshala, is organizing a workshop on 20th June, 2016 from 9:15am to 3:30 pm, at the Delhi Public School, R K Puram, New Delhi. Professor Pankaj Jalote, Director, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi, will deliver the keynote address.
The CSpathshala initiative will be rolling out a teachers training program so as to teach computing as a science in grades 1-8 from 2017-2018. CSpathshala is carrying out a pilot project for 15 schools in Pune for academic year 2016-2017.
We are pleased to invite you to the workshop and would be delighted to have you and your computing teachers present at this workshop.
