Computing plays a bigger role in the lives of young people today than ever before. Yet, there is a widespread lack of knowledge of what constitutes the core of computing: is it just the use of word processors and spreadsheets or are there more fundamental principles that underlie this science. Can we show young people how a computational model can be used to solve a variety of problems, from basic problems in mathematics to answering questions in biology?

CSpathshala (www.cspathshala.org) is an Association for Computing Machinery (ACM India: india.acm.org), not for profit, initiative to bring a modern computing curriculum to Indian schools. ACM India Nagpur chapter is organizing a workshop on 15th February 2018 from 1:00 pm – 5pm, at Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur. Prof. Madhavan Mukund, President ACM India, Dean of Studies and Professor of Computer Science at Chennai Mathematical Institute will deliver the keynote address.

We would like to invite all principals, and heads of institutes from primary and secondary schools in Nagpur to the workshop.

The CSpathshala initiative provides teaching aids in the form of slides, lesson plans and student worksheets to the teachers at no cost. 175 schools have joined the CSpathshala pilot for grades 1-8 for 2017-2018.

Lunch & Refreshments will be served.
