Computing plays a bigger role in the lives of young people today than ever before. Yet, there is a widespread lack of knowledge of what constitutes the core of computing: is it just the use of word processors and spreadsheets or are there more fundamental principles that underlie this science. Can we show young people how a computational model can be used to solve a variety of problems, from basic problems in mathematics to answering questions in biology?

CSpathshala, an Association for Computing Machinery India (ACM India) initiative, brings a modern computing curriculum to Indian schools. CSpathshala, is organizing a free workshop on 7th January from 9:30am to 2:00 pm, at Cochin University of Science and Technology, Thrikkakara, South Kalamassery, Kochi, Kerala 682022. Dr. K. Poulose Jacob, Pro Vice Chancellor of CUSAT and Dr. Ramesh Hariharan, CTO Strand Life Sciences will deliver the keynote addresses.

The CSpathshala initiative provides teaching aids in the form of slides, lesson plans and student worksheets to the teachers at no cost. CSpathshala is already carrying out a pilot project for 15 schools in Pune and will be rolling out a pilot project in Kochi for grades 1-8 from 2017-2018.
