10:30 am - 1:30 pm
Persistent Systems Limited - SB Road
The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) India has started an education initiative (CSpathshala) to bring a modern computing curriculum to Indian schools. As part of this initiative are creating curriculum and teaching aids in the form of lesson plans, slides to be used by teachers and work sheets for students that can be adapted by teachers. We are also training teachers on the use of these aids as well as CS topics. All the content will be available freely under creative commons license. CSpathshala will be carrying out a 3 year pilot in select cities in India before rolling it out nationally. In the first year, CSpathshala is carrying out a pilot project for 15 schools in Pune for academic year 2016-17.
The workshop will provide an overview of the CSpathshala initiative. Current status, future plans, curriculum, sample teaching aids as well as opportunities and roles for volunteers will be shared. This workshop is for you:
1. If you would like to know more about the initiative before joining it
2. If you already part of the initiative but could not attend the earlier orientation workshops.
Lunch will be served.
