Sudoku in Zilla Parishad School, Shive

I joined the school in 2018 as a teacher. After that, I participated in the CSpathshala training programme. I learned to solve Sudoku using systematic techniques and fell in love with it. Mathematics is my favourite subject, so right after the training, I introduced 4×4 and 6×6 Sudoku puzzles to my 6th standard students. They progressed from simpler to more complex Sudoku, and I was thrilled to see their excitement and smiling faces when they cracked a puzzle.

Initially, only 7 or 8 out of 27 students would attempt to solve Sudoku. As they learned the technique, 24 of them started solving it accurately. It turned into a healthy competition—who could solve it first and without mistakes. I made it a daily routine to give them one puzzle in the morning and review it during recess. I also used a Sudoku app and newspaper clippings to give them nearly 100–150 puzzles to solve. Their joy and improvement in logical thinking were incredible to witness.

After the March 2020 lockdown, I had to send Sudoku puzzles online. Initially, only 3–4 students had access to mobile phones and WhatsApp, but now that number has increased to over 20. There is clear improvement in their mathematical ability and accuracy. If I miss sending a puzzle, the students miss it dearly. One of them, Rohan Salunkhe, even downloaded the Sudoku app himself and now shares puzzles in the group. Students are solving them quickly, which is wonderful to see.

2018 मध्ये मी या शाळेत रुजू झाले. त्यानंतर मी CSपाठशाळा ट्रेनिंगमध्ये सहभागी झाले. त्या वेळी मला सुडोकू सोडवण्याच्या पद्धती शिकायला मिळाल्या आणि मला ते फारच आवडले. गणित हा माझा आवडीचा विषय असल्याने दुसऱ्या दिवशीपासूनच मी सहावी इयत्तेच्या विद्यार्थ्यांना 4×4 आणि 6×6 सुडोकू सोडवायला देऊ लागले.

विद्यार्थी सुडोकू सोडवताना खूपच उत्साही दिसत. त्यांच्या चेहऱ्यावर हसू उमटत असे जेव्हा ते अचूक उत्तर मिळवत.

सुरुवातीला 27 पैकी फक्त 7-8 विद्यार्थीच प्रयत्न करत होते, पण नंतर 24 जण नियमित आणि बिनचूक सोडवू लागले. आमच्या वर्गात स्पर्धा निर्माण झाली आणि रोजच्या वर्गाची सुरुवात सुडोकूने व्हायची. मी ते तपासून recess मध्ये फळ्यावर उत्तर देत असे.

मी शंभर ते दीडशे सुडोकू अ‍ॅप व वर्तमानपत्रांमधून मिळवले आणि नियमितपणे वर्गात देत असे. त्यांना अचूकतेने आणि आनंदाने सुडोकू सोडवताना पाहून मलाही समाधान वाटायचे.

मार्च 2020 नंतर लॉकडाऊनमुळे ऑनलाइन पद्धतीने मी सुडोकू पाठवू लागले. सुरुवातीला फक्त 3-4 विद्यार्थ्यांकडे मोबाईल होते, आता जवळपास 20 मुलांकडे आहे. त्यामुळे आता सर्वच विद्यार्थी सुडोकू लवकर आणि अचूक सोडवतात.

जर मी एखाद्या दिवशी सुडोकू पाठवले नाही, तर मुले वाट बघत असतात. रोहन साळुंके या विद्यार्थ्याने स्वतः अ‍ॅप डाऊनलोड केले आहे आणि तो पॅटर्न ग्रुपवर पाठवतो. सर्व विद्यार्थी आता खूप कमी वेळेत सुडोकू सोडवतात. त्यांच्या प्रगतीमुळे मला CSpathshala आणि सोनिया मॅडमचे आभार मानावेसे वाटतात.
